We are a Sarasota Chiropractic Office that specializes in the Gonstead Method - the most advanced and complete method of biomechanical analysis and treatment available today.
The Gonstead Method is one of the most complete and scientically sound methods of chiropractic care available to today's chiropractors. A Gonstead chiropractor will conduct a more thorough and extensive analysis of the spine than most chiropractors. And, a Gonstead chiropractor has mastered a specific scientifc approach to adjustments and manipulations.
The extensive analysis phase is one of the main aspects of the Gonstead Method of chiropractic care that sets it apart from other methods. The analysis performed by a Gonstead Chiropractor is composed of five criteria:
1. Visualization: Visualization is the whole picture, how the doctor cross-references the other methods of analysis.
2. Instrumentation: The Nervoscope is a device that can identify inflammation and nerve pressure base on uneven distribution of heat along the spine.
3. Static Palpation: Feeling (palpating) the spine in a stationary position to indentify swelling, tenderness or any other abnormality.
4. Motion Palpation: Palpating the spine while moving and bending at various angles.
5. X-Ray Analysis: A full-spine radiograph first allows the doctor to rule out any pathologies, such as fractures, then helps evalaute posture, joint and disc integrity, and vertebral misalignments.
The Gonstead method's technique is an expansion of the standard Diversified technique. Like the Diversified technique, the method is hands-on and the objective is to restore correct movement and alignment to the spine and joint.
The Gonstead method also includes the high-velocity, low-amplitude thrust of the Diversified technique, however, it removes the rotation from the thrust.
